About USask Toxicology Centre
The Toxicology Centre is the hub of research and administrative support for the University of Saskatchewan (USask) Toxicology Program. Through the Centre and the related toxicology academic programs, we train world-class toxicologists who are sought after by society to address current and emerging human and environmental health issues. We provide regional, national, and international leadership in the practice of toxicology through public and technical outreach and stakeholder engagement. The Undergraduate Toxicology program at the University of Saskatchewan is the only program of its type in western Canada, and the most comprehensive undergraduate toxicology program in the country. The program has been designed to provide students with a basic understanding of how toxic substances behave in the body and in the natural environment, how they adversely affect individual organisms, populations and ecosystems, and how to measure these toxicants and their potential effects. The Undergraduate Program in Toxicology is a joint program of the Toxicology Centre and several academic units, including the departments of Soil Science, Biology, Geography, and Animal & Poultry Science, as well as the School of Environment & Sustainability. The interdisciplinary nature of the USask Toxicology Program, along with the diverse interests of a large number of graduate faculty in the USask Toxicology Group, provides students with a wide array of potential research opportunities. The Graduate Program in Toxicology at the University of Saskatchewan offers Ph.D. and M.Sc. degrees with specialization across a wide range of toxicological expertise.
