V-Glass has developed next-generation, vacuum insulated glass (“VIG”) technology for affordable, ultra-high efficiency windows having 3x the thermal performance of conventional argon filled windows, 2x longer life, and costing no more to manufacture. We have a market ready MVP, collaborative relationships with two large manufacturers, and more than $200k in order backlog for demonstration projects that move V-Glass from TRL6 to TRL7. We’ve sold V-Glass VIGs to two potential manufacturing partners for testing, one that’s been supplying free glass to us since 2012 and another that will invest in our upcoming seed round. Buildings account for 39% of total primary energy use in the U.S. and 75% of electricity use. And while windows comprise only 8% of building surface area, they represent 45% of thermal energy loss. Accelerating market entry of affordable, ultra-high efficiency windows will have a disproportionately large impact on reducing carbon emissions, eliminating wasted energy, and controlling peak grid demand. V-Glass has raised $6 million to-date, $4 million coming from DOE, NSF and state SBIR grants, with more to come. We seek funding to transition out of our lab into a pilot plant where automation technology will be developed to industrialize production for delivery of commercial quality V-Glass VIGs at targeted price efficiency to more potential partners and our early demonstration projects.
