A love for this land, flourishing with vines and tradition, brought Nonno Bepi the idea of designating the Trevisan hills of Alta Marca the “Strada del vino bianco” or “White wine road”. From Conegliano to Valdobbiadene, the first Italian oenological itinerary twists and turns through a magical landscape rich in history and ancient perfumes. This is the land of Prosecco Superiore D.O.C.G. The same passion and creativity enliven the work of Benedetto Ricci today. From his father Romano, experienced oenologist, he inherited a profound bond with the culture of wine. In a magnificent area, just outside of Conegliano in the ancient county of Collalto, he found the ideal vines to give life to, in year 2000, the Valdellövo project that he runs today with his wife Clotilde. The small vineyard has five acres of original vines. Another 20 acres of the same clones were subsequently planted, in particular Glera, Bianchetta and Verdiso, which express the best unity of this soil and microclimate of the hills, with excellent results. Here, in the Doline-Pedrè zone, where thousand year old movements of the earth created a unique territory, with woods throughout the rise and fall of the hills, steep and gradual in extraordinary alternation, Benedetto cultivates not only the vines, but also the idea of a wine that converses with nature and modern times, that unites the respect of traditions and an indomitable spirit of innovation. From this alchemy the “label” Valdellövo is born, with all signature grapes, each one with its own detail, each one with a story to tell, made from great expectations, passionate research and striking discoveries.
