About Valley Cultural Foundation
Founded in 1975 to assist the Los Angeles City Department of Recreation & Parks in bringing arts and culture to the San Fernando Valley, the Valley Cultural Foundation has been at the forefront of culture, arts, and arts education for more than 45 years. The Valley Cultural Foundation’s free Concerts in the Park was launched in 1975 under the guidance of our first chairwoman, educator Lou Bredlow. Today, the concerts are known as Concerts on the Green and are still presented free of charge and enjoyed by more than 140,000 Valley residents each year. First presented in Shadow Ranch Park, Concerts on the Green has a permanent home at the Lou Bredlow Pavilion in Warner Center Park. Built on land generously donated by the Harry Warner family in 1967, the Pavilion was built for $1.3 million dollars, $1,000,000 of which came from Quimby funds and $300,000 from the Valley Cultural Foundation’s donors. Today, we hold a 25-year lease on the Pavilion from the Los Angeles City Department of Recreation & Parks and the facility is used for a variety of our cultural and arts activities. The Valley Cultural Foundation is actively engaged in community outreach and our programs encompass the diverse cultural, social, and artistic dynamics of the Valley. A vital community resource, the Valley Cultural Foundation provides arts appreciation, music education, and arts outreach for Valley students, as well as programs that support our senior population. Our many Concerts, Movies in the Park, Awards and Scholarships, and Special Events provide rich opportunities for Valley residents to participate in and enjoy the artistic diversity that defines our unique neighborhood. Funding for the Valley Cultural Foundation comes from our generous corporate sponsors, grants, and our expansive Membership and Volunteer programs. A non-profit 501 (c)(3) corporation, the Valley Cultural Foundation doing business as Valley Cultural Foundation is an independent organization.
