About Valley Nonprofit Resources
Valley Nonprofit Resources (VNR) is a management support organization and offers capacity-building services and information to strengthen the more than 1,000 nonprofit organizations in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles. VNR serves nonprofit executive directors, staff and board members, plus leaders of volunteer groups and of smaller foundations in the Valley. For more information, go to: www.csun.edu/valley-nonprofit-resources. VNR’s fully-searchable database and interactive geomap of Valley nonprofits is at http://vnrplatform.org/. All online services are free of charge. VNR’s innovative program model was developed both through national research and broad community input gathered since 2001 – including a 2003 conference attended by 120 local nonprofit leaders, and a 2005 feasibility study funded by The California Endowment. VNR’s main components are: * a user-friendly website with information resources (including more than 600 downloadable publications from VNR and other sources, as well as the VNR Platform database and geo-map) * a learning community for Valley nonprofits centered on peer networking and workshops focused on identified needs. * a technical assistance resource, with needs assessment and a range of consulting services (offered by VNR staff or through referrals to outside resources, with services both subsidized and market-rate). * an information and referral function to offer custom-tailored responses to Valley nonprofits’ needs in real time, either online or by phone. * a community voice to help Valley nonprofits communicate about critical issues.
