About Vanderbilt Black Law Students Association
Since Black students were first admitted to Vanderbilt Law School in 1955, Vanderbilt’s Black Law Students Association has worked tirelessly to cultivate talented Black attorneys who endeavor to positively impact the community. The mission of Vanderbilt’s Black Law Students Association is to utilize the collective resources of its members, advisors, and alumni community to: - Articulate and promote the professional needs, goals, and development of Black law students - Foster and encourage academic success and professional competence - Focus upon the relationship of Black attorneys with the legal structure of the United States - Instill in the Black attorney and law student a greater awareness of commitment to the needs of the Black community and the diaspora - Influence the legal community to bring about meaningful change to meet the needs of the Black community - Facilitate the professional needs and development of all students of color and allies
