About Vanguard Classical School
10 Years of Excellence Vanguard Classical School (VCS) was founded in 2007 through the efforts of CP of Colorado and a founding board. Since that time we have expanded and are now educating 1300 students in two locations in grades K-12. In 2016-17, Vanguard West celebrated its 10 year anniversary while Vanguard East graduated its first senior class. We have expanded our secondary program and enrollment as we continue to build a unique high school experience in a small school setting. Vanguard Classical School uses the time-tested process of a Classical Education. All teachers are trained in the use of the Socratic method. This method of systematic questioning, designed to reveal the facts, encourages student participation, understanding and confidence. Vanguard uses an explicate phonics program, Riggs: Writing and Spelling Road to Reading and Thinking, to teach the elements and proper usage of English language. The Core Knowledge Scope and Sequence provides the foundational knowledge. The Core Virtues program will support character development. In addition, Vanguard will use classic, time tested literature by the great authors and original text documents for instruction.
