About Velofresh

Velofresh was founded by husband and wife team, Val and Piers O’Neill. Both Val and Piers come from blue chip management backgrounds where they gained significant experience within the retail, distribution and logistics environments. Val held a number of store manager positions at Boots the Chemists before transitioning to the logistics arm of the business where she was a Regional Distribution Centre Manager. Piers started his career with Sainsbury’s before moving on to work for Boots within their logistics function. Having fulfilled a number of management roles in Plymouth, Basingstoke and Belfast, Piers ultimately progressed to become the Regional CDC Manager for the South & West. Latterly the entrepreneurial duo have drawn on this experience and built their own retail business over the last 7 years. Situated in rural West Devon the couple have grown their business from scratch and taken it from less than £20k turnover in year 1 to over £325k last year. All this at the same time as raising a young family. In 2015 Piers took up road cycling for the associated health benefits and he very quickly developed a real love of the sport. He was soon joined by his youngest stepson who, unlike his stepdad, has a real talent for cycling as well as the burning passion! Together they enjoy cycling all over Dartmoor and West Devon. It was through this shared experience that Velofresh was born. As Piers and stepson Nathan encountered problems they would think up potential solutions. It was then Val who sought to develop these ideas further and investigate suitable products.
