About Ventura County Taxpayers Association
Founded in 1954, the Ventura County Taxpayers’ Association (VCTA) is a non-partisan 501(c) (4) organization emphasizing issues that affect Ventura County. We inform taxpayers, promote the wise use of public funds, oppose waste, advise public officials regarding issues of concern to taxpayers and recommend positions that will best serve the taxpayers’ interests. VCTA has been looking out for the interests of Taxpayers in Ventura County since 1954 – over 60 years. VCTA believes in efficient, effective and transparent government. Without the help and generous support of residents here in Ventura County, VCTA could no be effective in its mission to advocate for and inform taxpayers about issues critical to them. Issues like these: VCTA exposed Ventura County Pensions as the most generous in the state. VCTA led and qualified a pension reform initiative for the County that was removed from the ballot by a judge’s decision in a lawsuit brought by the public unions. VCTA opposed lifetime healthcare in Thousand Oaks for employees and City Council members with as little as 5 years experience. City Council revised their policy. VCTA prevailed in a lawsuit requiring the Ventura County Pension Board to release the identities of county retirees earning over $100,000 annually under the freedom of information act. The data identified 335 people collecting $42 million annually confirming pension spiking is excessive, unaffordable and unsustainable. VCTA exposed an improper golden handshake that included an associated increased lifetime pension spike awarded by VCTC to a highly paid manager whose job was being phased out because of lack of work. VCTC reversed their position once exposed. Your continued support is vital. We hope that you will consider a membership in VCTA at whatever level you feel is appropriate.
