Verracoffee is a social enterprise that sources coffee beans directly from the farmers, and makes it available to the wider, global market. It has distributors across the Asia Pacific region, particularly Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia. Very recently, it has started distribution in the United States and Netherlands. In its first few months of operations, VerraCoffee acquired a license to operate from the Philippine FDA and an account in the United States FDA Industry Systems. So coffee cultivated by our farmers has crossed international borders and is expanding as more Filipinos overseas are wanting a taste of home, while non-Filipinos are wanting a taste of rare, exotic coffee beans. A portion of the income from coffee sales as invested in scholarship for tribal children. Part of the company’s work is to help increase the production of Philippine coffee to be able to supply the growing demand of its market. So it brings coffee lovers to immerse in farms and understand the work of the farmers, help plant trees, and educate them all about coffee – from farming, to roasting, to brewing and also in turning waste or coffee grounds into bio-char that would be used as organic fertilizer. A substantial amount of the farm immersions’ revenues are given to farmers, since the camps are held in their farms, which helps supplement their income. Free trainings are also offered to PWDs, particularly the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, to give them more opportunities for employment.
