About Veterinary Ireland
Established in 2001, with a pedigree back to 1888, the role of Veterinary Ireland is to represent all veterinarians in Ireland and to facilitate the veterinary profession in its commitment to improving the health and welfare of the animals under its care, to protecting public health and to serving the changing needs of its clients and the community through effective and innovative leadership. As both Trade Union and Trade Association, Veterinary Ireland represents its members on a host of topics pertinent to the modern Irish veterinary profession, lobbying and negotiating with external bodies in order to express the views, aspirations and concerns of members. Veterinary Ireland offers Continuing Veterinary Education (CVE) at substantial discounts to members, helping them to maintain yearly registration with the VCI. Veterinary Ireland provides a wealth of advice & support to members on a multitude of issues, including business & employment law advice, various guidelines, policies & procedures, as well as free financial advice on all areas of Retirement Planning, Savings, Investment and Protection Products through Veterinary Ireland Financial Services Ltd. Communication is maintained with members through regular email and social media updates, as well as a free copy of the monthly Veterinary Ireland Journal. www.veterinaryireland.ie also provides a portal into the organisation, with the latest news, advice, policies and press releases online. Moreover, membership of Veterinary Ireland provides the opportunity for its members to contribute to the representation of the Irish veterinary profession, its interests and ideals, not only in Ireland but also in Europe and throughout the world.
