About Via Laulima

Via Laulima is an interdisciplinary design firm that provides architectural, interior design, furniture design, and spatial branding services for commercial and residential markets. OUR NAME. Our name reflects our philosophy and approach on how we practice design. In Hawaiian, Laulima literally means "many hands working together." It is a pillar principle within the Hawaiian culture and is best represented by an example long ago when Hawaiians used to fish together in the ocean. A group of fishermen would take a rope or cord with ti leaves tied to it and form a line in the water to herd the fish toward the shore. The line would slowly close into a circle to trap the fish, and if one person was out of sync, they would be given a chance to swim free. This story resonates with the way our firm operates. Via Laulima is more than just an identity; it is a belief that good design is achieved by working collectively with an interdisciplinary mindset.
