About Victoria Park Centre for the Arts
The Victoria Park Centre for the Arts: Engaging communities through the arts. Our mission is to improve the quality of community life through increased participation in the arts and the celebration of cultural diversity. Our vision is to be a vibrant and energetic art centre, fostering a community that embraces the arts as part of daily life. We work with our members, tutors, artists, partners and the community, to facilitate and nurture creative and cultural growth in the community and advocate for the arts. We provide a meeting place, venue and creative space for community, artists and those interested in the arts and cultural development. We produce a cross-section of workshops, events and exhibitions annually and have a small shop space showcasing the work of local artists. The VPCA finds its home in a quaint 1940s weatherboard cottage that was rescued in the 1980s from its derelict state. It is now a thriving much loved community centre, providing for local community's cultural needs. Modified for disability access and inclusion and, receiving the ‘Access Commendation’ in the Town’s 2006 Enhanced Access Awards, we have a long standing well established relationships with Nulsen Disability Services, Creative Connections, KZ Speech - supporting autism and are a major sponsor for As We Are – Artists who have an intellectual disability. Conveniently located close to Albany Highway and on main bus routes, the centre is near to many of the Town’s amenities. We are a community, cultural and artistic showcase for ever increasing visitor numbers and a creative focal point for the Town of Victoria Park and neighbouring communities.
