Situated in the heart of Alentejo, Vidigueira is the fourth smallest local county of Beja district that belongs to the Alentejo NUT III sub-region, covering an area of 314.2 km with a population around the 5863 inhabitants, divided into four parishes - Vidigueira, Pedrógão do Alentejo, Selmes and Vila de Frades. Geographically the Vidigueira municipality is well positioned between the citys of Évora and Beja, accompanied in terms of accessibility through direct access to IP2, allowing the proximity to the highway to Lisbon or the Algarve, as well as the connection to the future IP8, which proves to be a strategic road to the economic-social development of the region, enhancing the inducing effect in all areas, agro-food, social, cultural or tourist, by the three structural axes in the region - Port of Sines, Beja Airport and Alqueva Dam.
