VIRESCO — Latin in origin, rendered as: ‘I become green.’ We are an engineering and technology company redefining how the world handles food waste. From our Depackaging and Anaerobic Digestion facility in Turtle Lake, WI, we partner with over 75 grocery retailers, food manufacturers, distributors, and brokers to transform unsellable food or beverage into renewable energy and valuable resources. Our process is simple: -We safely receive and process packaged food waste at a grand scale (up to 40 tons per hour). -We ensure nothing goes to landfill, organics are recycled into energy and nutrients, packaging is recycled. -We provide transparent reporting, so partners see exactly how much material they’ve diverted and the tangible impact they’ve created. The Problem We’re Solving: -In the U.S. alone, over 119 billion pounds of food is wasted every year. That’s nearly 40% of all food produced, and most of it ends up in landfills, where it generates methane, a greenhouse gas 25x more harmful than CO₂. -This is not just a waste of food, but a massive waste of energy, water, labor, and resources used to grow, ship, and store that food.
