About Virotec

Virotec is a privately owned Australian company that has sat on both sides of the fence of environmental remediation. Virotec started off life as a miner. In 1999, there were problems with the capacity of one of our tailings dams, with the potential for copper, lead and other heavy metal leaching. We also had remediation and rehabilitation issues with a number of our closed mines. We couldn’t find anyone suitable to economically help us, so we undertook our own research and development to remediate these issues. The results were so good that we treated the water in the tailings dam, allowing the release of large amounts of water into the environment at cleaner than drinking water standards with the heavy metals fully absorbed into a benign solid complex at the bottom of the dam. Our other mines were subsequently fully remediated and then sold and so we changed the nature of our business to exclusively concentrate on environmental remediation. Since that time, we have developed and/or found a suite of technologies to handle all and any problem in any industry, no matter how hard. We even treat and destroy illicit substances for police forces! We have a worldwide footprint and international recognition but like our mining history, we understand all of the non technical issues that confront a client and then financially, technically, environmentally and politically, help them work through those issues.
