We knew that the only thing holding highly regulated financial service firms back from leveraging the power of the cloud for business process transformation was the lack of a data security-focused platform. We discovered that the "traditional" cloud storage and backup vendors at that time didn't understand security, protecting personally identifiable information or financial service sector data security requirements. Even worse, no one knew where data was stored from day to day. Some providers could even read consumers' stored documents and grab information for other uses. Data breaches proved that the traditional cloud was certainly no place for financial records, tax returns, legal documents, accounting system backups and all the other things that can't fall into the wrong hands. There was a definite need in the financial services sector for a different cloud-storage system. One with security and data storage infrastructure and processes that met stringent financial regulations and banking requirements. A cloud-storage platform that understood the regulator's and financial services data security concerns and compliance around how and where customer information was stored.
