About Virya
Ebru is an ancient art with a mysterious, fluid, dynamic, and ever-evolving history that spans thousands of years. It possesses infinite techniques that transcend itself. Ebru has been passed down from master to student through the tradition of apprenticeship, and this cultural heritage has survived to this day, with the potential to continue indefinitely. What sets the art of Ebru apart from all other traditional movements is the uniqueness of each piece. It is impossible to create an identical image of the same work. Every moment is different, and no two moments are ever the same. The fluidity of the water, the density of the paints, the atmosphere of the environment, and the artist’s mood at that particular moment are all reflected in the image formed on the surface. The artist can never be completely sure of the final result that will appear when the paper is lifted from the water, as it is always filled with uncertainties and secrets. Ebru has no rules, no repetition, and it constantly generates different possibilities. Just like "life" itself... "VIRYA," a Sanskrit word meaning energy or enthusiasm, represents the energy that leads to liberation. VIRYA is always in pursuit of the new, yet it remains spiritually connected to the past, seeking traces of it along the way. Because we know and believe that: Inspired by the ancient art of Ebru and the dove metaphor in our symbol; Forms and colors will heal us, blend into the water to set us free, and always keep us connected to life.
