About Vivian's Victory - Cincinnati, OH
Vivian’s Victory – Helping Families as Children Heal. Vivian’s Victory supports needy Tristate families with children fighting for life in long-term intensive care. 1. Provide financial support to meet short-term family emergencies. 2. Humanize the family’s hospital experience with in-unit family and community activities. 3. Help individual family members cope by offering one-on-one hope and comfort. Needy families often face serious economic consequences when their children require long-term intensive care. This can impact medical outcomes and pull families apart when they need most to be together. Examples: • Colton’s family relocated to Cincinnati from Kentucky. To be discharged, Colton was in needed a $700 stroller to transport him and his ventilator. Vivian’s Victory provided this. • Kyler was in need of multiple surgeries to repair birth defects. Without reliable transportation, his mother would not have been able to get him to these surgeries. Vivian’s Victory provided a donated vehicle. • Eliana was transferred to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital from Iowa with serious congenital medical problems. Her mother was with her, but her father’s job necessitated he stay at home. Flights to visit were beyond their limited budget, and his free time was too brief to justify driving. Vivian’s Victory paid for three round-trip flights during their 3-month stay. • Vivian’s Victory is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, created in 2014; it uniquely serves this critical unmet need in the Tristate area. • Each year in the Tristate/Miami Valley, about 2,800 babies and children from needy families are admitted to the most serious (Level III/IV) Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) and Pediatric Intensive Care Units (PICU). Many are there for extended periods. • In 2016, Vivian’s Victory was able to assist 216 families, only 13% of qualifying families. Gifts ranged from $50 to $3,000, and averaged about $250.
