About VNA An Affiliate of Midland Care Connection
Established in 1891, Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) is Kansas City’s first home health agency and home to the original visiting nurse, Lilly Major. “The visiting nurse brought her skill and compassion to all Kansas City neighborhoods…” and thus began the tradition of caring for our patients in the comfort of their home. From these roots on the streets of Kansas City the agency quickly expanded to encompass 17 counties in the metropolitan area. Today, visiting nurses work closely with physicians and case managers to provide physical and social healing to patients. Social workers, rehabilitation therapists, nutritionists and mental health workers supplement the work of nurses with their own specialties. Patient needs have shifted over the past 130 years, but our commitment to the patient and our partner organizations remains the same- people need someone to care for them and more importantly someone to care about them. In 2020, VNA re-introduced hospice services to the community. With this addition, VNA can provide services for patients across the continuum of post-acute care.
