About Voice Care Network Uk
We are a charity that works in several areas of voice. We have members who are SLT's, Voice Coaches, Teachers, Lecturer etc, membership provides access to CPD days, Study Weekend and publications. We also deliver a series of workshops into schools, a teacher is a professional voice user, yet they receive training on how to use their voice. The charity was founded by Roz Comins over 20 years ago, who recognised the need for support for the Teaching and Lecturing Community. In a surveys undertaken, 73,000 teaching days were lost across British Primary Schools due to voice issues. 55% of teachers complained of voice loss or problems and research undertaken by VCN members, Speech and Language Therapists estimated their workload of Teachers, accounted for over 20% of their work load. We often work with the teaching unions, ATL, NUT and NASUWT. We strive to be a the forefront of our profession and aim to undertake ground breaking research where possible.
