About Volkswagen ClimatePartner
Volkswagen ClimatePartner is a joint venture built on the expertise and innovation of two partners who share a common goal: ambitious carbon reduction and the development of high-quality projects - Volkswagen and ClimatePartner. Founded in 2022, we are a start-up with a diverse team based around the world. Our extensive expertise covers project development and the voluntary carbon market. We focus particularly on forest and land use projects (including forest protection, reforestation of degraded forest areas, sustainable agriculture combined with forest protection, and conservation of savannah landscapes), renewable energy projects, projects to avoid methane emissions, and innovative mobility concepts. All projects share the common goal of reducing the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, thereby contributing to global climate protection. The projects are certified according to recognised international standards. We take a comprehensive approach to our projects and actively participate in them. Our assessment goes beyond carbon performance; we take a holistic view that includes stakeholder engagement, optimising local benefits, strategic partnerships, and rigorously assessing and mitigating the risks inherent in carbon offset projects, incorporating safeguards at different project stages. We work with NGOs, governments, project partners, and verification bodies around the world to deliver climate-impact solutions. In partnership with our shareholders and local partners, we strive to deliver solutions and scale to meet our climate goals, improve livelihoods, and restore a thriving planet through developing projects. In doing so, we drive change in the global green transformation and support sustainable development with added social value in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through our very extensive due diligence process, we ensure that investments are made in the highest quality projects.
