About Voluntary Action Camden

VAC is an independent charitable organisation and our mission is to work with the people and community groups in Camden to support, develop and promote a good quality of life for all who live or work in the borough. There are around 1500 charities, social enterprises and other community organisations working specifically in Camden, all of which are helping to meet local needs and challenges in the borough by delivering essential services, activities and projects. VAC works with many of these groups and supports their growth and development. To do so we offer 121 support and advice on setting up a group; choosing a legal structure; fundraising and income generation; financial management; monitoring, evaluation & impact; effective governance; finding premises; digital strategy - and much more! We deliver a diverse training programme to equip individuals with the skills they need to run and manage community projects and activities. Most recently we have been focusing on IT and digital and safeguarding workshops. We help bring groups together through networking opportunities like forums, meetings and events. We also have access to community groups which are considered ‘below-the-radar’, many of which are listed on our directory of community in groups in Camden, the most comprehensive database of voluntary action in Camden. We also play a key strategic role by representing a 'voice' for the sector and enabling the sector to influence policy and decision making at a strategic level. VAC also runs a number of cross-sector programmes, in partnership with other community organisations, to tackle a variety of local issues, for example: Safeguarding, Social Prescribing, Mental Health Awareness Raising, Tackling Health Inequalities and Rents and Community spaces in Camden.
