Vulcan to the Sky is a unique, visionary #STEM and #heritage project, showcasing the aerospace engineering excellence and captivating story of our iconic Avro Vulcan XH558 and those who designed and operated her, focussed now on our mission of Inspiring the Future. XH558 was the last flying example of a V-bomber, Britain’s airborne nuclear deterrent. Enthusiasm for putting this charismatic aircraft back where it belonged was enormous, but the technical and regulatory challenges were formidable and often described as insurmountable. To have designed and built such machines in the first place was magnificent; to have the vision to restore one to flight after more than a decade on the ground was a stirring illustration of the art of the possible. XH558 has now retired again, but will form the basis of an exhibition at Doncaster Sheffield Airport (DSA) that will tell not just her story, but use her draw and iconic presence to show how engineering can solve immense problems. In a world facing a climate emergency, inspiring new engineers may never have been more timely. We intend to serve great coffee too. We think we can add real value to the aviation and aerospace sector and would welcome contact with organisations and individuals who might wish to partner us.
