The W.EG. business unit was successively expanded in the following years through strategic acquisitions. Examples of this are the acquisition of German companies Schmitt Elektrogroßhandel GmbH, UNI ELEKTRO Fachgroßhandel GmbH & Co. KG, WALTER KLUXEN GmbH and LICHTZENTRALE Lichtgroßhandel GmbH and their integration into W.EG. at the turn of the millennium. These companies create synergies, benefit from common structures and optimise their processes under the common umbrella of Würth Elektrogroßhandel. In addition to its domestic market in Germany, W.EG. is also active in the following seven countries in Central and Eastern Europe where it has independent subsidiaries: Italy, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. These companies are grouped together in the "Würth Elektrogroßhandel Central and Eastern Europe" business unit.
