About Wada Farms
Wada Farms is a leading grower and supplier of fresh produce in the U.S. and around the world. They are the exclusive marketer of all varieties and pack styles for Wada Farms and Dole® Fresh potatoes, onions, sweet potatoes and specialty product brands with exclusive marketing co-packer networks in every major growing region in North America. Through direct grower relationships, Wada Farms Marketing delivers year-round distribution, full transportation services and custom marketing solutions to retail, foodservice and wholesale customers. Wada Farms has a 70+ year history of pride, excellence and respect – and an obsession for providing things of intrinsic value to our consumers and partners. We have a reputation not just for quality, but for leadership in new ways of doing things and understanding trends and opportunities. Established in 1943, Wada Farms was founded by Frank Wada, who emigrated to the U.S. from Japan in 1922 at the age of 13. He and his wife Agnes farmed in San Clemente, California, until World War II broke out. They packed as many belongings as their 1934 Ford truck could hold, then moved inland during the war to avoid internment when Japanese Americans were forced to relocate from the west coast. After settling in Pingree, Idaho, the decision was made to plant their family roots and first crop of potatoes on 160 rented acres of farmland in the spring of ’43. By 1972, the Wada family farm had grown to approximately 400 acres when Frank’s youngest son, Albert, bought the family business from his father. Under his leadership, Wada Farms Inc. has grown into a successful Idaho-based agribusiness, now farming nearly 30,000 irrigated acres of crops each and every year. As a fully integrated grower-shipper of Russet, red, gold and specialty varieties, Wada Farms Potatoes operates one of the largest fresh potato packing facilities in the country. Albert and his wife Christine have two sons both active in the family-operation.
