About Waguta

Governments, NGOs and tech companies have been trying to tackle the problem of household food waste for years. But rather than curbing our waste, we are actually wasting more food than ever before. This is because avoiding wastage takes time. We have to regularly check what’s in the fridge, plan meals in advance, find recipes to use up wilting produce. Time we tell ourselves we don't have. So we push it to the back of our minds. But what if checking what was in our fridge was as fast and easy as checking our instagram or twitter feeds? What if we could set up alerts for when products are nearing the end of their freshness and receive recipe suggestions based on what needs to be used up? At Waguta we are working on making this a reality so that we can all reduce our food waste, find new recipe inspiration, and save money while we’re at it.
