About Washtenaw Camp Placement
Our mission at Washtenaw Camp Placement is to connect youth to camp through community support, providing an opportunity for those who would not otherwise be able to attend. Resident summer camp provides a transformative experience, fostering growth in social, emotional, and physical well-being for children. A WCP Campership offers so much more than just a camp scholarship. In addition to covering camp tuition, we arrange transportation from the Ann Arbor area to the assigned camp for our campers. For most camps, this entails a bus or van ride, while for one camp, families prefer to personally drive their child. We also assist parents or guardians in completing all required camper paperwork, recognizing that access to a computer may be limited for some families. Removing this barrier ensures that every camper can participate fully. For families unable to acquire necessary camping gear for their child, such as sleeping bags, sheets, luggage, towels, and water bottles, we accept donations of these items year-round. We supply them to campers as needed, ensuring that no child is held back due to lack of equipment. Moreover, we organize a fun and informative orientation session for campers and their families. At this event, representatives from each camp are often present, allowing families to meet them and ask questions, fostering a sense of comfort and familiarity before camp begins. We provide lunch and distribute donated camping gear during the orientation, further enhancing the experience. At Washtenaw Camp Placement, we strive to ensure that every camper has a smooth and enjoyable experience at sleepaway summer camp, feeling just like any other camper. Your support enables us to fulfill this mission and make a positive impact in the lives of these children and families.
