Business Overview * WATCH Smoke Alarms Pty Ltd is an exciting new start-up, pre-revenue company, established by Ann & Peter Fell, in response to the opportunity created by the new Queensland Smoke Alarm legislation. We realized that the Queensland public deserved better smoke alarms than what were currently available. Our State Government has done their job by legislating for safer homes. In 2007 – legislation was introduced requiring a smoke alarm on each floor in hallways. In 2011 – 11 lives were lost in a house fire in Logan. Their smoke alarm was on top of the fridge waiting for a new battery. This drove the Qld government to legislate to improve the standard of safety. But legislation alone won’t save as many lives as it will with better smoke alarms to keep Queenslanders safer. The public believes that all smoke alarms are the same and consider them a nuisance. We intend to elevate this opinion to that of a life-saving device. We have designed new, innovative smoke alarms and accessories because existing manufacturers had not improved smoke alarms in decades. The arrival in the market of WATCH products will change the industry forever. Our products will initially serve the demand created in Queensland. The quality and convenience of these products will be sought throughout Australia. Our borders will not be a barrier to a global market for these life-saving devices. Everyone will want the best protection available for their loved ones. As a small company we have maximized the potential of WATCH by gathering together an Advisory Board of specialized skills to assist with structured and experienced corporate governance. Our innovative business model is very efficient, with low overheads and high profits. All team members have “skin in the game”.
