About Watford Hospitals Broadcasting Service
Pulse Hospital Radio (PHR) is a fully independent membership charity radio station run by volunteers since 1955. Our primary objective is to alleviate the effects of sickness, infirmity and/or old age amongst persons living in the catchment area of West Hertfordshire Hospitals Trust (WHHT). This is primarily c. half a million people in West Hertfordshire and the surrounding areas. We achieve the above by providing a 24-hour broadcasting service for hospitals. As well as broadcasting within WHHT’s inpatient areas, our service can also be accessed by hospices, elderly care homes and/or similar institutions via the internet, smart speaker or Tune-In app. Our reach also extends into the local community and those convalescing at home. Our wide range of listener focused programming falls into four categories: news, special interest, sport and entertainment.
