About Wausau River District
Wausau River District, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit Main Street America program whose mission is to promote and facilitate economic development and historic preservation in downtown Wausau for the benefit of the entire community. For over 20 years, Wausau River District has worked and continues to work with business and property owners, the city, community leaders, and other key stakeholders through outreach, programming, and advocacy to ensure downtown Wausau’s continued vibrancy as a center of commerce, culture, and community. We believe Main Streets are for everyone. At the core of our approach to revitalization is a commitment to creating places of shared prosperity, equal access to opportunity, and inclusive engagement. The Wausau River District models and champions this vision through our actions and programs. Wausau River District, Inc. works in conjunction with downtown Wausau's Business Improvement District (BID). Businesses within the BID are automatically eligible to participate in WRD programming and services. Our BID represents nearly 150 property owners and over 250 businesses within the boundaries.
