Wautier Carpets’ German namesake after Founder Chris Walters, is a sentimental ode to a rich family history of carpet making. Since 1952 the Walters family has hand crafted superior carpets beginning with SA Felts in Port Adelaide. Chris has fond memories of his mother, Mavis Walters, hand-stitching carpets while he and his brothers watched on. After the passing of Chris’ older brother Allen, who’d always hoped to make use of the Wautier name, Chris yearned to begin a new project which celebrated both he and his family's rich history. Wautier Carpets was born, combining Chris’ love of carpet design with his expertise in construction. A brand dedicated to crafting exquisite carpets and rugs for a refined clientele. Having initially intended to focus on a handful of specialised projects each year, Wautier was soon inundated with inquiries from renowned designers. Recognising the demand for unparalleled craftsmanship, Wautier expanded operations to cater to the needs of a wider audience. With more than 70 years in the game between Wautier Carpets’ Founder Chris Walters and Woven Specialist Maggie Keys, you can embark on your project with confidence, knowing that every step is guided by expertise, dedication, and a shared commitment to excellence.
