About Waves of Wellness Foundation
Waves of Wellness Foundation is a for-purpose mental health charity changing lives through innovative mental health programs based on our three pillars of wellness: 1. social inclusion 2. connection to nature, and 3. engagement in meaningful activity These three pillars have been specifically chosen based upon an in-depth review of the mental health and recovery literature. Approximately 450 million people currently experience mental health issues globally, yet almost two thirds of these people do not access support or treatment. In Australia, 1 in 5 people experience challenges with their mental health, yet this issue remains highly stigmatised, the prevailing perception being that those struggling need to go it alone. Mental health is not just about dealing with crisis, it’s also about finding healthy outlets for people who are struggling, recovering and doing fine. We need to understand mental health as part of our overall health, and proactively manage it in the good times, as well as the hard times. By increasing awareness, conversations and connection, we can change the way mental health is viewed and treated. Together, we all have a part to play in changing the conversation.
