Our mission is to aggregate weather safety awareness throughout New Jersey and surrounding areas through actionable social discussion. Our vision is to become the most accurate independent weather reporting agency in the state of New Jersey as your local go-to weather source. Weather NJ was originally founded as Severe NJ Weather in February of 2010 by Jonathan Carr (aka JC). The re-branding to Weather NJ occurred in July of 2014 along with the web-centralization of a 100% organic social media effort. Since the July of 2014 web launch, WeatherNJ.com has been visited by over 2 million unique people from 184 countries around the world from 6 out of 7 continents. All-time social media traffic on facebook and Twitter is almost impossible to quantify but likely in-excess of 100 million post views since 2010. It is estimated that one out of every four facebook users in New Jersey has either seen a Severe NJ Weather or Weather NJ social media post at one time of another. It is further estimated that 2 out of every 9 people in New Jersey have seen a Weather NJ web article. 99.47% of followers are from the United States, 93% are from the Washington DC-Boston area and 71% are from New Jersey as confirmed via Google Analytics.
