About Web-Don
Born of an idea between neighbors, Webster Collett, Don Smith and Buck McQuay, Web-Don, Inc. was founded in Charlotte, NC in 1972. Webster Collett and Don Smith, owners, and operators of C & S Distributors (a Florida Tile distributor) approached Buck McQuay with the proposition of becoming Wilsonart laminate distributors. Collett and Smith were convinced their prospects lay in the Florida Tile business, but McQuay saw the brighter prospects of the Wilsonart line. So, with a small line of credit secured from his local bank, he started Web-Don, Inc. At the time, McQuay was only 32 years old and taking on such a business venture was a definite risk, but it proved to be a very fruitful risk! By 1973, C & S had closed its doors and Collett and Smith joined McQuay in the Web-Don, Inc. journey. Little did they know, it would become one of the foremost Wilsonart distributors in the United States. McQuay and Smith ended up buying out Collett early on, and from that point until 2005, McQuay and Smith ran Web-Don. Buck McQuay bought out Don Smith in 2005, and today he and his wife, Gail McQuay, are the sole owners of Web-Don, Inc. With Gail as majority owner, Web-Don is not only a family-run business, but a woman-owned business! We are proud members of The Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). The company has high hopes for the future, including expansion throughout the southeast where deliveries can be made quickly and productively with minimum lead times. Most of all, though, Web-Don, Inc. strives to maintain the family values and the small business style of loyalty and camaraderie that helped it survive; and that has enabled us to achieve a true pinnacle of success and staying power.
