About Welcome Home SIS

Welcome Home SIS (System Impacted Survivors) is a non-profit Christian-centered safety net for women and children who have been impacted by the criminal justice system. Our transitional housing and reentry program is the FIRST and ONLY one of its kind in the state to focus on the gender-specific needs of women post-incarceration. We provide a safe space and a stable living environment- a sanctuary that allows the healing process to begin. Our mission is to empower women to break the cycle of trauma, addiction and incarceration by equipping them with essential life skills that prepare them for independence and a second chance at life. We believe a woman's crime does not define her. She is not a prison number. She is a survivor. Upon release from incarceration, a survivor’s debt to society should be paid in full. Unfortunately, with as many as 38,000 “collateral consequences” that come with a conviction, this is hardly the case. Adequate housing and employment are just a few of the obstacles a survivor is confronted with when attempting to reintegrate into the community. With little or few other options for survival, re-offending is often inevitable. We assist in navigating these barriers faced upon release to ensure residents become productive and law-abiding citizens of their community and family. Above all, we offer a non-judgmental support system.
