About Wesleyan Potters

Founded in 1948, Wesleyan Potters, Inc. is a non-profit school and cooperative guild promoting crafts skills development. Offering classes in weaving, metalsmithing, and ceramics, the organization also provides Youth Pottery, Jewelry, Weaving, and Sewing classes for children. With support from the Connecticut Office of the Arts, classes run year-round in sessions lasting 9 weeks in winter, spring, summer, and fall. The facility includes a vintage factory building with 9,000 sq ft of studio space and an additional 1100 sq ft for workshops, meetings, and a reference library. The pottery program serves 144 students with 18 wheels, kilns, and tools. The metalsmithing studio is equipped for various techniques in soldering, forming, and stone setting. The jewelry studio includes 3 soldering stations, kilns, and a hydraulic press for working with materials like sterling silver, copper, and brass. In the weaving studio, students have access to 30 looms of different styles and widths, with a library of resources for project inspiration. Instructors offer classes and workshops throughout the year, teaching a range of techniques in each media.
