About West Coast Soccer Association

The West Coast Soccer Association formed back in 2009 with only 30 teams in mostly southern california. Since then we have grown to 60+ teams in CA, and approximately 100 teams in the along the Western Coast of the United States. In 2014, our league became affiliated with the United State Adult Soccer Association and its national governing body, US Soccer. Our focus is to provide a pathway for players leaving the competitive youth club system and alternative to playing NCAA Soccer, and to bridge the gap between youth soccer and adult soccer whether that be continuing to PDL, NPSL or your average sunday league. The teams in our league are majority student run, with university club sports oversight. More often than not these teams are only funded by the players, with a handful receiving minor funding by their university. This alternative path to competitive soccer at the university level maintains much of what student athletes are accustomed to growing up, with practice 2-3x a week, and games on the weekend. Unlike the NCAA programs where daily practice, 2-a-days are the norm with lighter class loads, this enables our students at the collegiate club level to focus on their studies. This league and the nature of the college club programs at the university also lends itself to teaching these young adults how to run an organization (essentially a small company), in organizing practice, managing financials, planning team travel among others, and also working with governing bodies with the support and oversight of their university sports clubs. Our hope is to bring competitive soccer to the collegiate club level that is often underserved and overlooked due to youth clubs and adult sunday leagues. And in doing so, offer those in team leadership position the opportunity to learn and gain experience in running what is essentially a small company.
