About West Welcome Wagon
West Welcome Wagon is a grass roots not for profit organisation that provides material aid donations and other assistance to over 500 asylum seeker households in Melbourne's West. Since incorporating in 2014, WWW has developed into a vibrant organisation of volunteers seeking out, collecting and delivering donated furniture, white goods, electrical items, household essentials, clothing, toys, text books and food parcels to support our clients with essential and basic needs, enabling their basic foundation of survival, in order that they can better engage and participate in everyday life. We currently provide support in the municipal areas of Brimbank, Hobsons Bay, Maribyrnong, Moonee Valley and Wyndham. We are planning to expand into South West (including Geelong), Melton and the North. The asylum seekers originate from over 30 different countries. We have over 200 Core volunteer members. We have strong relationships with the local schools, businesses, councils, neighbourhood houses, donors and of course, our asylum seekers. We partner with Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC), AMES Australia and other organisations committed to supporting asylum seekers and refugees, including Salvation Army and Red Cross. As much as possible, we rely on generous donations from our local community. We are also committed to Environmental Sustainability and actively source useable and/or repairable items. We have a number of projects where companies can assist, such as Food, Clothing and Linen drives, recycling appliances (refrigerators & freezers) and furniture. We are able to support corporates looking to conduct workplace volunteer days, centred around our warehouse in West Sunshine. We also welcome ongoing financial support by way of corporate donations and matched giving initiatives that your organisation may choose.
