About Western Australian Centre for Road Safety Research, University of Western Australia
At the Western Australian Centre for Road Safety Research (WACRSR), we deliver independent, applied research to prevent serious injuries and save lives across our state. As WA’s dedicated road safety research hub, WACRSR was established in 2019 through a partnership between the WA State Government and the University of Western Australia to build local research capability and capacity. We deliver an annual program of planned research while responding rapidly to emerging issues, advancing knowledge that supports the Road Safety Commission’s Driving Change 2020–2030 priorities. Our research is developed in partnership with the Road Safety Commission and informed by a wide range of stakeholders to ensure it is relevant, practical, inclusive, and impactful for WA communities. We focus on safer roads, safer speeds, safer road use, and safer vehicles, while also exploring future challenges such as emerging vehicle-to-everything technologies, safer post-crash responses, and evolving needs of road users of all cultures and abilities. From our hi-tech driving simulator, which realistically replicates a range of driving conditions, to exploring the road safety impacts of e-Rideables in WA, our research helps shape decisions that protect families and communities across the state. By sharing our findings, we equip policymakers, industry partners, and communities with the insights needed to drive real progress towards zero road trauma. Follow us for WA road safety research updates, event invitations, and insights to help build a safer future for all Western Australians.
