About Whakamātūtū
Whakamātūtū delivers recovery programmes that support people making their way through mental distress. Our programmes bring together evidence-based therapies - group psychotherapy, creative and somatic therapies, Rongoā Māori, medical and social work support - within a safe, structured environment. We help people gain stability, strengthen connections, and develop skills that protect against relapse. Based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara / Wellington, we exist to fill the gap in Aotearoa’s mental health system for those who need more than primary care but don’t meet the threshold for specialist services.
