About Wharton Crossley
After joining the consulting side of the international aid, philanthropy and development sector in 2013, I noticed a significant disparity in how organisations would recognise that people were its key asset, but often failed to invest in recruitment functions. Driven people are central to positive change in this world and this sector, from building connections to writing proposals to delivering the important work that we do. So having the ability to find the right people in a timely matter is paramount to success, and something that should be invested in and fully supported to ensure that project or delivery staff can focus on their tasks rather than hiring and resourcing. What I look to offer with Wharton Crossley is specialist advisory support and recruitment/resourcing services to assist organisations with finding and retaining those hard to find people. Of course, all of this is bearing in mind key factors for duty of care, diversity, and fair recruitment plans that ensure organisations are doing all they can to ensure that projects and teams have diverse candidates and look to more non-traditional sources for talent. I am continually inspired by the many individuals I have had the privilege of working alongside or encounter over the years. Hoping that I can apply this same dedication to ensuring the sector continues to build on those that have done so before. With that in mind, I hold myself to high ethical standards which underpin my pursuit of making an impact on hiring and resource management in this sector in innovative and sustainable ways. Why did I call my company Wharton Crossley? My great-great-great grandfather, Sir Titus Salt, was a Victorian philanthropist who built the village of Saltaire in West Yorkshire to improve the lives of his workers. I am inspired by his mission and proud to continue on his work in my own way three generations later (despite my lack of resources to build a village!). Wharton Crossley is a tribute to his legacy.
