About Wiedmann Bible Foundation
The Wiedmann Bible is a visual representation of the Holy Scriptures; it transcends all languages and is the only Bible that depicts the complete Old and New Testament solely in hand-painted images. It includes 19 Leporello books which contain 3,333 images that have a total length of about one mile when connected. The Wiedmann Bible was created by German artist Willy Wiedmann (1929-2013) over a period of 16 years (1984- 2000) in his own and unique painting style called PolyCon. The Wiedmann Bible Foundation’s mission is to artfully engage people with the Bible through artistic expressions, for all to experience it in new ways, transcending all languages. It is our understanding that art provides a perfect tool to experience the gospel, because it shapes the imagination of faith communities and enables people to become engaged in the story of the Bible. The Art of the Wiedmann Bible is such a tool, especially for those who are unable to read or write, those who prefer visual learning, or those who are afraid to read the bible. The vision for the foundation is manifold. Among the objectives of the corporation is to finance and build a museum for the original Wiedmann Bible, or an authorized identical copy thereof, in North Carolina or elsewhere in the USA. The corporation also wants to establish a place where Willy Wiedmann’s mission and artwork can be permanently shown to benefit the people of North Carolina or elsewhere in the US and the world. In addition, the foundation will organize exhibits and events throughout the US, in museums, churches, town halls, galleries, schools or in any appropriate place that welcomes art and faith, in order to engage people in activities such as interactive media (i.e. virtual reality and interactive terminals) and to educate them about the art within the Wiedmann Bible and the PolyCon style in which the paintings were painted. The foundation will aide in sharing the Gospel and strengthen people’s faith journey.
