About Wigs Up North

Wigs Up North was created in 2004 to make and hire wigs to the stage and screen. A year later we began to retail specialist theatrical make-up. Now, we do so much more! We have created wigs and facial hair for many clients. Our credits include Peter Kay (as Geraldine), Susan Boyle, The Royle Family, Shameless, Holyoaks, The Bolton Octagon and Manchester International Festival, We also work with private clients who are tribute acts or those coping with hair loss. Our shop in Manchester is an treasure trove for make-up artists (or those how just love the stuff!). We are major suppliers of Kryolan and were chosen by Illamasqua to be a Pro supplier giving us the ability to offer a discount on their range to professionals or make-up students. We also stock Ben Nye, Make-Up International, GM products, Babyliss and our own range of brushes and set bags to name a few. Our e-commerce site (www.makeupatwigsupnorth.co.uk) was launched at the beginning of the year and we regularily hold short courses on all aspects of wigmaking and application. Vicky Holmes, Jackie Sweeney and Liz Armstrong have many years of experience working for major theatre and television companies. The combination of their experience with both sides of their business enables them to offer a complete service to production companies. From make-up and wig design to creating or hiring what is required, through to supplying and managing staff and budgets, it can be done!
