About Wild Folk Nature School

Wild Folk Nature School began as a pipe dream mid-COVID in 2021, when I was on maternity leave with my son. My mission is to provide children, and children at heart, with the opportunity to explore their surroundings, build resilience, and establish a deep and meaningful connection with the world around them. We aim to champion unschooling through the simplicity of nature play. It is our vision that all children have frequent and uninhibited access to inquiry-based, child-led outdoor programs that immerse them into their local environment. Wild Folk Nature School is a place where parents and carers can find unconditional support as they navigate the vast world of nature play. Wild Folk sessions are guided by myself, Emma, a qualified primary teacher (Bachelor of Education) with years of experience. I am an avid nature lover, wife, and mama to two beautiful little wild babes. Nature has always played a big role in my life, and I've made countless core memories in it. Some of my favourites include camping trips with my family up and down the east coast of Australia , nature walks through rainforests and bushland, fishing off the coast of the Gulf of Carpentaria, scuba diving our beautiful Great Barrier Reef, gardening in my backyard and days at the beach exploring the rock pools and snorkelling in the shallows. I completed a graduate certificate in Steiner education in 2023 and aspire to continue my learning and study in this area. My passion of working in nature and teaching children is combined through the facilitation of nature play sessions inspired by the Waldorf/Steiner philosophy.
