About Wildlife Haven
Formed in 1984 by a group of environmentally concerned citizens who cared about the successful rehabilitation of injured, sick and orphaned wildlife, Wildlife Haven Rehabilitation Centre was first known by the name Manitoba Wildlife Rehabilitation Organization (MWRO). The volunteers started the organization out of their backyards and opened a centre in 1993 in Glenlea, Manitoba. The centre currently operates in Île des Chênes, Manitoba - only 8 minutes from Winnipeg. The 10,000 sq ft Wildlife Haven Campus includes a Wildlife Veterinary Hospital, a Wildlife Ambassador Wing, and the Murray Education Centre. Wildlife Haven owns 18 acres of land, where you'll find the Outdoor Campus with animal enclosures, a naturalized wetland and more! For over 36 years, Wildlife Haven has been rehabilitating injured, sick and orphaned wildlife from all over Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario. Wildlife Haven is a volunteer-driven, registered charity dedicated to the rehabilitation of injured, sick and orphaned wildlife for their return back to the wild, providing education services to the community and engaging volunteers in a rewarding experience. Since 1984, over 50,000 injured and orphaned wildlife have been cared for. Wildlife Haven relies on the generous support of volunteers and donations to operate. The Wildlife Haven Rehabilitation Centre and Campus is located on Treaty 1 territory, ancestral lands of the Anishinaabeg, Dakota and Dene peoples, and on the homeland of the Métis Nation. Wildlife Haven is honoured to care for wildlife from all ancestral lands in Manitoba. We are committed to working in partnership with First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples in educating current and future generations about the importance of respect and peaceful co-existence with wild animals, the land, water, and all living beings.
