About Williamsburg Youth Counseling

About Dane Wendell, LPC Dane attended Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia and received his graduate degree in Applied Psychology with a concentration in Counseling from University of Baltimore in Maryland. Dane spent four years in the Baltimore City School system working directly with students and he also served as a clinical supervisor for new graduates. Following his tenure in the schools, Dane opened a private counseling practice in 2016. After nearly 15 years in Maryland, Dane and his family were offered an opportunity to move back to his hometown, Williamsburg, to start the next chapter in their journey. About Williamsburg Youth Counseling Working with youth clients is drastically different than working with adults. Children and teens do not care about a philosophy, educational background or theoretical orientation. They care about their ability to relate. Youth need to feel comfortable, supported and most importantly, heard. The first goal of therapy is to develop a well-grounded, trusting relationship. From there, Dane can help your child relax, increase their motivation, repair their negative thoughts and solve problems through the use of Mindfulness, Solution Focused and Cognitive Behavioral techniques.
