Willingsford Limited is a UK-based microbiome-focused R&D company. It has developed the MPPT technology, which is effective in the treatment of wound infections, including antibiotic and antiseptic resistant infections. MPPT has been shown effective in immunocompetent and immunocompromised individuals. Microbes secrete toxins and enzymes to inhibit or kill immune cells and they secrete a shield of biofilm around them, which immune cells cannot penetrate. Using this weaponry, they cause infection and disrupt the ability of the immune system to control the wound and the healing process. MPPT (micropore particle technology) uses capillary-evaporation, i.e. physical pumping and evaporation forces, to disrupt this microbial weaponry and place the immune system back in control over the wounded area. This pumping process removes the microbial toxins and enzymes and creates holes in the biofilm layer, i.e. it disrupts the microbes’ weaponry. This re-establishes the strength of the immune system and it enables the immune cells to enter the biofilm fortresses. As MPPT in this way returns the control of the wound environment to the immune system, it enables the immune system to remove the infection, regenerate tissue and heal the wound. MPPT is approved for the treatment of wounds, including burns. MPPT is available as Amicapsil and Amicapsil-SCI for humans and SertaSil for animals. MPPT is non-toxic and does not contribute to pollution or climate change.
