About Wilson Arts

Wilson Arts is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching lives through the transformative power of the arts. Located in downtown Wilson, NC, we serve as the community’s central hub for creativity, connection, and cultural growth. Our work spans across performing, visual, and educational arts programs that engage people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. At the Edna Boykin Cultural Center, a 600-seat historic theater, we present the Boykin Series of live performances, ACT! for Youth productions, and countless community events. At the Wilson Arts Center, visitors experience a 5,000 sq. ft. gallery with rotating exhibits, art classes, and special programming designed to foster accessibility and inclusion. A cornerstone of our mission is accessibility. Through initiatives like Creative HeARTs, we provide arts opportunities for individuals with disabilities, and through strategic partnerships with schools, nonprofits, and housing authorities, we reach underserved populations across the county. Looking forward, our makerspace expansion will transform 7,000 sq. ft. of our facility into studios for ceramics, woodworking, jewelry making, and digital arts. This innovative project will not only expand access to creative education but also support mental wellness, entrepreneurship, and workforce development — creating new pathways for personal and economic growth in our community. Each year, Wilson Arts welcomes tens of thousands of visitors through performances, classes, exhibits, and community events, powered by hundreds of dedicated volunteers. We strive to be a place where creativity thrives, people feel connected, and the arts drive both cultural and economic vitality. Together with our community and partners, we are shaping a vibrant, inclusive future for Wilson — one where the arts are for everyone.
