About Winik Media
Winik Media is currently producing the second season of, "Year One", a documentary series for ESPN on the life of an NBA rookie. Winik is serves as an Executive Producer on the upcoming 10 part documentary event for Netflix & ESPN, “The Last Dance”, the story of Michael Jordan’s final season with the Chicago Bulls. Winik Media is also advising NBA and NHL franchises in expanding their content business. In addition, Winik Media recently acquired a sports film library that consists of 1000 original 35mm and 16mm titles totaling over 300 hours of original sports content dating back to the mid-twentieth century. Winik Media is in the process of preserving the collection and developing original documentaries and dramatic series. After sixteen years running the broadcasting, programming and production divisions at the National Basketball Association, Gregg Winik left the NBA and formed Winik Media LLC in 2006. Winik Media’s initial project was the creation of CineSport, the first syndicated broadband sports content and technology platform. CineSport, where Winik served as Founder and CEO, grew to be a comScore top 5 sports network that powered blue chip web sites including the Boston Globe, Philadelphia Inquirer and The NY Post. CineSport was sold to OneUp Sports in September of 2015. As the Emmy Award winning Executive Vice President, Programming and Executive Producer at the NBA, Winik oversaw content development and production across all media and was instrumental driving the NBA’s worldwide reach. In his business development role, Winik managed the league’s relationships with its national and local television and radio partners and presided over the creation of NBA TV, the league’s 24-hour television network and the first channel devoted to a single sport.
